What is the Community Registry and how does it work?
PeopleSite's Community Registry allows you to post your information for PeopleSite Members to search. In the story field enter information that will help identify yourself to those searching through the messages. You can list schools attended, other areas you have lived in, military experience, etc. Only those people who have signed up for a free membership have access to the community registry records. Once you have joined, you are able to update your community registry by logging in and clicking on Edit your Community Registry Profile at the top of the page.

What information is required when posting a message?
The last name field must be filled in when posting a message. If you do not know a person's last name, we recommend you enter UNKNOWN. Though no other information is required, the more information you provide to a visitor the more likely it is that they will recognize the person you are describing.

How can I help find someone?
You can search through the posted messages by using a name and/or a keyword search from our Search Messages page. You are also able to browse each of the categories from our Browse Categories page. If you come across a message looking for someone you know, you are able to send the member who posted the message an email. The success of the site relies on visitors searching through the messages and identifying the person described.

How can I increase the success of my message?
There are many things you can do to help with your search.
- Be as specific as possible in your posting. The more information you provide the more likely it is that someone will know the person you are looking for.
- If you have a photo, you can sign up for our Enhanced Features. These allow you to upload a picture and add it to your posting. We have found that pictures can help the success of someone knowing the person you are looking for.
- Be careful to enter your correct email address. We often receive email saying someone tried to respond to a message only to have the email returned because of an invalid address.
- Check your spelling. It's important to have things spelled correctly to help visitors find your message.

What does Why Search Alone mean?
Other people finders, search engines and white pages let you search a huge database, all by yourself. Usually, that data is just whatever is public record (i.e. phone lists, etc.). PeopleSite is just the opposite. Your posting becomes part of our database that is searchable by tens of thousands of people everyday. So, the important thing is not how many records you can search, but how many people will see your search messages. This is the philosophy behind - Why Search Alone?

How do I search for someone?
PeopleSite allows you to search for someone by Posting A Message to the site for visitors to view. By posting a message you are opening up the possibility that someone who knows the person you are looking for will spot your message and will be able to help you. In addition, you can help others by searching the messages that have been posted by clicking on the Search Messages button on the left side of the screen. The idea behind the site is for people to help others find each other. We have had many Success Stories of people who have been found using PeopleSite. Who knows, someone may even be looking for you!

Just who is PeopleSite?
PeopleSite (originally People Finder) was created in 1995 by Paul Craven as an outgrowth of his personal search for a family member. Paul found that there was nothing like PeopleSite out there to help. Twelve years later there is still no other site which uses PeopleSite's unique community based approach to finding lost friends, relatives and loves.
The current Peoplesite.com is the work of a very talented bunch of people that worked for free and still aren't paid for the work they do.
